Through adoption we have been given new rights and new responsibilities. Our past has been washed away and we are fully united to our Father. Holy Spirit is IN us upon adoption and we need to stay in step with Him and not revert to our old Orphan lifestyles or ways of thinking.
Jesus came to give us life in abundance, but the problem is that we were all born orphans, estranged from our heavenly Father. There is nothing like the orphan mindset's ability to bring a blockage to you experiencing everything Jesus has for you. Judas had been with Jesus for 3 years and witnessed many incredible things. He looked like any of the other 12 and even participated in the miracles, seeing people healed, delivered, and set free. He even quit his job and rearranged his life to follow Jesus and yet betrayed Him. There was no question that he made sacrifices. But God isn't looking for sacrifice, He's looking for your heart....your whole heart.
The crowd started following Jesus because they saw the signs of healing He was doing. Later that same crowd sees the multiplication of bread and fish, but when they catch back up to Jesus He rebukes them, saying that they weren't following Him because they saw the signs, but because they got their bellies fed.
